Narrow village garden

The long thin garden behind this characterful village house was initially dominated by some large trees which left little room for a lawn and shaded most of the garden.  We kept the beautiful magnolia, pruning it carefully raise the crown and removed the other trees, replacing them with pleached beech trees which provide privacy without encroaching into the garden.  We added soft, modern planting in a subtle blue and white palate with hyrangeas for impact and frothy erigeron daisies to soften the corners.
